Tradeoffs are real: competitive housing, the Seattle Freeze, winter Big Dark, homelessness, and traffic. Parks sit within a 10-minute walk; Discovery Park and the Burke-Gilman Trail are the after-shift reset. Visit a prospective neighborhood at 8 a.m. on a weekday before you sign; traffic and the Freeze are the two things locals say surprise newcomers most.
