Medical/Surgical Assistant

Medical assistant for a cosmetic surgery clinic who holds a wide range of responsibilities to support the surgeon and maintain a high level of care for patients. A plastic surgery medical assistant works directly with the surgeon, assisting with a variety of cosmetic procedures in office and injectable treatments. In addition, the medical assistant helps the surgeon during consultations and follow up visits, performing duties that include:

• Patient medical interview, review of medications and medical history, and pertinent note taking during the patient visit.

• Patient

education

provide proper pre- and post-operative care instructions, recovery expectations, assist in answering any questions from patients.

• Preparation for surgery: prepare equipment, supplies, and patients for surgical procedures and examinations. Know the procedures, proper equipment handling, and sterile technique. Send lab/medication orders under doctor's direction, follow up on the results.

• Order supplies and manage back office duties (such as cleaning) when not actively working with patients.
