● Must have AHA BLS.

● must have 2 years’ experience as an RN MEDICAL / SURGICAL.

*Responsibilities of the RN MEDICAL / SURGICAL:*

  • Shift: 12-hour D/N Rotation
  • Shift Details *12 Hour PM-AM or 12 Hour AM-PM*
  • 36 hours/week (3\*12)
  • 13-week assignment
  • Provide direct patient care in medical-surgical units, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, suturing, catheterization, and wound care.
  • Monitor vital signs and conduct physical examinations to assess patient status and identify changes requiring intervention.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans aligned with patient needs and clinical protocols.
  • Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory testing, imaging procedures (e.g., CT scans), and specimen collection.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards, aseptic techniques, HIPAA regulations, and documentation requirements within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
  • Support patients with complex needs including those requiring trauma medicine, ICU-level care, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health services.
  • Participate in discharge planning and patient education to promote recovery at home or in long-term care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes.

*Skills*

  • Extensive experience in medical-surgical nursing with additional expertise in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation and order entry.
  • Knowledge of advanced procedures such as cardiac catheterization, spinal tap, gastrostomy tube feeding, and ventilator management.
  • Skilled in medication administration techniques including injections, IV insertion/infusion, and medication reconciliation processes.
  • Familiarity with specialized areas such as ophthalmology procedures (e.g., botulinum toxin treatment), infectious disease care, occupational health protocols, and trauma medicine practices.
  • Ability to perform physical assessments and physiological evaluations effectively while maintaining patient safety standards.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations including Workers' Compensation Law and NCQA standards for quality assurance.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator), geriatrics (memory care), individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
  • Capable of managing acute pain through appropriate interventions while demonstrating excellent communication skills for triage and case management roles.
