Albany area index 99.6, where 100 is the national average.
Albany's cost-of-living index of 99.6 puts it at the national average—yet well below New York State's, stretching your RN salary further than downstate. Two-thirds of residents rent, spread across neighborhoods like Center Square and Buckingham Lake-Crestwood. Suburban Colonie, Delmar, and Glenmont deliver family homes under $500,000, though high property taxes are the acknowledged trade-off.
