Position Summary The Certified Nurse Practitioner assumes responsibility for the care provided to a selected number of patients. Consideration is given to the patient’s stage of development according to life cycle. The Certified Nurse Practitioner assists in functions related to the diagnosis and treatment of patients under the supervision of an attending physician within the hospital. The Certified Nurse Practitioner is an expert clinician that works within a collaborative model to provide quality care and to improve patient outcomes by strengthening continuity of care in all settings for Cardiology patients, families and staff. Will consider a Physician Assistant. Qualifications Education Required • Must complete in-house orientation program • Master's degree program designed to prepare a NP to diagnose, treat, and prescribe for a patient’s condition that fall within their specialty area of practice or the successful completion of an approved supplemental education program, i.e., post-Masters NP certificate. (OR PA Bachelor's /Master's degree) Experience And Skills • Excellent interpersonal skills • Speaks, reads and writes English • At least two years of nursing experience in area of specialty practice applied for. Relevant Nurse Practitioner experience preferred. License/Certifications • Current NYS NP Certification -Adult/Acute Preferred . (Or PA license) • Current NYS licensure as a registered professional nurse. • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate required • National Board Certification as a NP required • BLS Certification required. • ACLS Certification required. • In collaborative agreement with physician(s) on staff and fulfills terms of collaborative agreement. - If NP has less than 3600 hours relevant experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner. Working Conditions • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn • Frequent, prolonged standing/walking. • Lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring of patients. • Protective clothing worn: face shields, gloves, impermeable gown, particulate respirator.
