The unit provides acute inpatient and hospital-based outpatient nursing care to patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and various hematopoietic disorders. Patients may be hospitalized during various stages of their wellness/illness from initial diagnosis through active treatment, recovery, and through end of life.

Nursing care is provided primarily to adults 18 years and over. Patients are also followed as a hospital-based outpatient as part of this patient care unit, after hospital discharge and as required by our Cellular Therapy program including chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy program (CAR-T). Nurses from this unit are also able to train to this advanced role near their 2-year mark.

The nursing practice in this setting is fast-paced and nurses can practice advanced nursing skills outside of standard inpatient nursing skills. Emotional support, patient/family education, and discharge planning and coordination are integral components of nursing care provided. Care is provided in a holistic, patient-centered approach. **Qualifications** Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.

Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
