About this role
The Intensive Care Unit Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) who is responsible for comprehensive goal-oriented care of the more acutely ill or unstable patients, infant through geriatric, in accordance with Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice. This includes age-specific patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, implementation, intervention, and evaluation of treatment. The Registered Nurse works with the patient/family/significant other(s) and interdisciplinary team members to develop an individualized plan of care to include educational and discharge planning interventions.
The ICU RN should be an independent thinker who can act and react to the needs of the critical patient. The RN promotes a cohesive environment and interacts effectively and professionally with all members of the patient care team.
This is a full-time night shift (7:00p-7:00a) with an every third weekend rotation and 2 holidays per year.

Duties
- Provide direct and specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Monitor and assess patients' conditions, including vital signs, lab results, and changes in symptoms
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Assist with procedures such as family planning, coding, sterile processing, specimen collection processing, gastric lavage, and other critical care interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate patients and their families on health coaching, self-care techniques, and disease management strategies
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes
- Coordinate discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions of care
- Provide support and care for patients of all ages, including pediatric patients requiring toddler care
Experience
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in [state]
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing principles and practices
- Proficient in using medical equipment and technology commonly found in the ICU setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare team members and provide patient education
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations
- Familiarity with ambulatory surgery center operations is a plus
