PRE/ PACU Registered Nurse

Summary

** The PRE/PACU Registered Nurse will provide pre-operative and post-anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical procedures related to ophthalmology. This role requires a skilled nursing professional who can effectively assess, plan, and implement nursing care based on patient needs before and after anesthesia. The nurse will serve a critical role in monitoring patients' recovery and ensuring their comfort and safety.

Responsibilities

**

• Assess patients' conditions preoperatively and ensure readiness for eye surgery.
• Monitor and document patients’ vital signs and responses post-anesthesia.
• Provide compassionate care and support to patients during the recovery phase.
• Administer medications and perform necessary interventions as prescribed.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and expected outcomes.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
• Uphold all safety standards and regulations in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient care quality.

Qualifications

**

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• A minimum of 1 years of experience in a pre-operative or post-anesthesia care unit preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ophthalmology environment.
