Are you a compassionate and driven nurse looking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic outpatient setting? UPMC Somerset is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our Same Day Services team! This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where collaboration, patient-centered care, and professional growth are at the heart of everything we do. Nurses also gain valuable experience across SDS, GI, Pain Clinic, PACU, and Pre-Admission Testing through a rotating practice model that requires flexibility and adaptability. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates critical thinking and autonomy, and can quickly evaluate changing patient data to make objective, evidence-based clinical decisions. Schedule: Varying 8-hour shifts between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM Call Requirement: Rotating call for holidays and weekends Why Join Us? Key Responsibilities Deliver safe, accountable, and autonomous nursing care using independent judgment and teamwork. Communicate clearly with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support care goals. Apply the nursing process to meet clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. Participate in ongoing education and RN residency programs to enhance clinical practice. Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to quality and safety initiatives. Demonstrate critical thinking and ethical decision-making in patient care situations. Support a culture of safety and respect, recognizing diversity and professional boundaries. Engage in professional development through literature, organizations, and peer feedback. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Take initiative in learning, asking questions, and building healing relationships with patients. 1 year general medical/surgical nursing experience BSN preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Registered Nurse (RN) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire for applicable units Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal Act 33 with renewal Act 34 with renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
