The pediatric inpatient post-surgical unit, also known as Explorer, is a dynamic and fast-paced, 35-bed unit, specializing in post-surgical care for patients across various specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, cardiac, and neurology. With centralized monitoring, our dedicated staff ensures high-quality care for every patient, offering an excellent opportunity for nurses to acquire diverse skills due to the rapid turnover and patient variety. The unit also plays a crucial role in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), with 12 beds - 6 for seizure monitoring and 6 for surgical overflow cases. The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing competent nursing care. Responsible for coordination of the patient's plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions that lead to established outcomes. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.

Requirements

  • Accredited nursing program (required)
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing (preferred)
  • RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • PEARS - Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization - AHA within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • Experience to correlate with Clinical Advancement Program (required)
  • Bilingual Skills Preferred
