Duties

Administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and document all care in accordance with established policies. Provide direct patient care, including wound care, catheterization, tube feedings, oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy care. Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and promptly report significant changes to the supervising nurse. Assist with diagnostic tests, procedures, and physician-directed treatments. Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized patient care plans. Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked care environment while adhering to infection control and safety standards.

Minimum Education &

Experience

Completion of an accredited practical nursing program (or equivalent training required for licensure in the State of Hawaii). Entry Level: No prior experience required. Full Performance: One (1) year of progressively responsible nursing experience in a hospital or similar healthcare setting preferred (or completion of a professional nursing program may substitute for experience).

Required Licensure &

Certification

Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Hawaii at time of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required within six (6) months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of practical nursing principles, infection control, and medication administration. Ability to assess patient needs, respond effectively in emergencies, and communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Strong documentation skills and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

This position may require rotating shifts.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
