We are seeking a reliable, self-motivated Service Technician to join our team in Canton, OH.
Our company is a established, family-owned supplier and service provider of industrial waste and recycling processing equipment (including compactors, balers, and custom waste handling systems). In this role, you will act as a key technical expert—troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment both on-site at client locations and within our local service shop.
If you thrive in an independent environment, enjoy hands-on technical problem-solving, and have experience with hydraulics, electrical controls, and structural welding, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on industrial processing equipment (e.g., compactors, balers, power units). Field Service & Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance and emergency on-site repair calls at customer locations (retail centers, manufacturing sites, commercial buildings, and distribution facilities). Welding & Fabrication: Execute structural stick and MIG welding, light metal fabrication, and component modifications in both the shop and field environments.
Shop Support: Maintain service truck inventory, assist with shop organization, prep equipment, and perform refurbishments during downtime. Customer Service: Professional interface with facility managers to explain repair requirements, root causes, and routine maintenance recommendations.
Candidate Qualifications
Required Experience & Skills
Technical Knowledge: General understanding of hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, hoses, cylinders) and electrical control systems (relays, switches, control panels, 3-phase power). Formal certifications are welcomed, but relevant practical experience is prioritized. Schematics & Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to read and interpret basic electrical/hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
Welding: Hands-on experience with stick welding and structural metal repairs (MIG experience is a plus). Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and make sound decisions in the field without direct supervision. Driving Record: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for operation of service vehicles.
Preferred Background
Prior experience in industrial maintenance, heavy equipment repair, or mobile field service roles.
What We Offer
We offer a flexible, supportive workplace culture backed by competitive compensation and a full benefits package: Comprehensive Healthcare: Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Financial Security: 401(k) Retirement Plan & Company-provided Life Insurance Paid Time Off: Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Company Holidays Career Growth: Stable industry with strong year-round workload and opportunities for professional advancement.
