The Registered Nurse will provide direct patient care, including assessment, treatment planning, medication administration, and ongoing evaluation of behavioral health patients.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs and mental status, documenting patient progress, and responding to changes in condition using established protocols. The nurse will collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate individualized care plans and participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings. The role also involves patient and family education, support during crisis situations, adherence to safety and infection-control procedures, and accurate, timely charting in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California; current BLS certification (and ACLS/PALS as required by unit). Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or acute care settings, with strong assessment and clinical decision-making abilities. Demonstrated skills in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and maintaining therapeutic boundaries in a patient-centered environment.

Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families. Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced clinical setting, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate documentation using electronic health records. Strong commitment to safety, quality of care, confidentiality, and compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; BSN preferred. Additional training or certification in mental/behavioral health nursing is an asset. Willingness to work assigned shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support 24/7 patient care.
