As Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) of the SICU and CVICU, you will provide clinical supervision and unit coordination to promote a cohesive team, promote effective care and improve treatment outcomes. With an emphasis on professional development and success, you will encourage caregivers to enhance their skills and patient experience through improvement initiatives and incentives. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will: • Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations. • Provide effective and efficient patient care to patients of all ages on assigned shifts or as otherwise designated. • Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units. • Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts. • Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and other operational issues. • Review major operational and patient care issues with Nurse Managers. • Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions, and monitor attendance. • Interview, select, and orient new caregivers. • Monitor adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines. • Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate staffing coverage on all shifts. • Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies, and research initiatives. • Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence. • Develop and deliver education for high-acuity critical care therapies, procedures, and advanced medical devices. • Provide bedside training and competency validation for therapies including ECMO, Impella, IABP, CRRT, vasoactive drips, IV Veletri, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac output monitoring, temporary pacemakers, FloTrac, EVDs, lumbar drains, ultrasound-guided IV access, and stroke management. • Educate caregivers on the care of complex patient populations, including heart and liver transplant recipients, patients with shock, open-heart recovery, neurosurgical cases, and other complex surgical populations. • Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation, onboarding, residency programs, simulation training, and ongoing professional development for critical care nurses. • Provide bedside coaching, mentoring, and clinical support to new graduates and experienced nurses to promote safe, evidence-based practice. • Maintain employee credentialing records, onboarding documentation, annual competencies, compliance tracking, audits, scheduling, and regulatory requirements. • Plan and lead unit-based educational initiatives, skills fairs, point-of-care meetings, and hands-on equipment training. • Coordinate education for new and existing equipment, including rapid infusers, temporary pacing systems, advanced hemodynamic monitoring devices, and other specialized technologies. • Evaluate educational outcomes, identify learning needs, and implement programs that support quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote clinical excellence, competency development, and continuous learning across the department.
