The State of Missouri will provide equipment and training for Missouri hospitals to ensure hospitals’ ability to conduct forensic examinations In the event an Emergency Department (ED) Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) is not available, the SAFE-T nurse, under guidance of a SANE or another similarly trained appropriate medical provider via the Missouri telehealth network, will conduct a forensic examination and forensic evidence collection in the Freeman Joplin or Neosho Emergency Departments for consenting adult patients who were sexually assaulted within the previous 5 days. The SAFE-T nurse will properly store examination evidence so that it can be collected by a law enforcement agency or placed in long-term storage per the patient’s wishes Requirements Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or completion of AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state.
