*Title: *RN L&D *Location: *Santa Maria, CA, 9345*4* *Shift: *Nights * Schedule: *3x12 *Contract: *13 Weeks _*PAY RANGE: $3,000.00 - $3,100.00 / Weekly*_ *Overview* We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery (RN L&D) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise in maternal and neonatal care, demonstrating a strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, and education. This role offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative environment that prioritizes excellence in obstetric nursing, utilizing advanced EMR/EHR systems and adhering to the highest standards of care. The RN L&D will be instrumental in providing comprehensive support throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and best practices. *Duties* * Provide expert nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, including monitoring vital signs, fetal heart rates, and contractions. * Administer medications such as epidurals, oxytocin, and other pharmaceuticals following prescribed protocols while managing pain control and sedation. * Assist with obstetric procedures including suturing, sterile technique application, and neonatal resuscitation procedures. * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans aligned with patient needs and hospital policies. * Educate patients and their families on childbirth processes, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care practices. * Maintain accurate medical documentation within EMR/EHR systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. * Monitor for signs of complications such as hemorrhage or fetal distress; implement emergency response procedures as necessary. * Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to maternal health outcomes and infection control standards. *Requirements* * Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred. * Minimum of two years’ experience in labor and delivery nursing within a hospital setting; experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable. * Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-10 coding for documentation accuracy. * Strong knowledge of obstetric protocols including fetal monitoring, sterile technique, and neonatal resuscitation procedures. * Experience managing complex cases involving high-risk pregnancies or comorbidities such as diabetes or hypertension. * Ability to perform clinical skills including IV insertion, suturing, catheterization, phlebotomy, and specimen collection/processing efficiently. * Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. * Knowledge of infection control practices specific to maternity care environments; understanding of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health issues is advantageous.
