American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Cardiovascular ICU position requiring prior Level 1 Trauma and CVICU/ICU experience.

• 13-week travel assignment in a Coronary Care ICU (CTICU/CVICU) at an acute care, Level 1 Trauma hospital

• 24-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:1-2, including a high number of 1:1 assignments

• Common diagnoses include cardiac surgery recovery, IABP, CRRT, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, ECMO, esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, and TAVR

• High acuity unit with frequent bedside procedures including bronchoscopies, Swan-Ganz catheters, and epidurals

• Uses Cerner EMR and Philips telemetry monitoring

• 12-hour night shifts with 4 total weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule

• Holiday coverage based on unit needs

• Charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment

• 2 PCTs staffed on days and nights during high census periods

• Intensivist coverage in-house during the day and on-call overnight

• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7, with pharmacy supporting transplant patients

• No dedicated IV team; strong independent IV skills required

• First to float to ICU, Med-Surg, or Tele units, potentially including other campus locations, with Tele floating at 1:4 ratios

• 2 days of floor-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

• BLS and ACLS certification required; CCRN preferred

• Prior ICU experience required, CVICU experience preferred

• Level 1 Trauma experience required

• IABP and CABG patient care experience needed to accept certain patient assignments

• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)

• Must pass a Day 1 sterile technique skills exam covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes

• Strong independent IV skills required due to no dedicated IV team

Additional Information

• Provide direct bedside care to high-acuity cardiovascular ICU patients, including those recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgeries and transplant procedures

• Perform or assist with bedside procedures such as bronchoscopies, Swan-Ganz catheter placement, and epidural management

• Complete SIMs Lab competency testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on Day 1 of orientation, with strict adherence to sterile field technique

• Additional educational sessions provided on lifts, restraints, and wound care during orientation

• Navy scrub color required

• Male candidates must be clean-shaven to accommodate fit testing

• Natural hair color required with no facial piercings permitted

• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license

• Travel team members must have their own vehicle

• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year
