Summary

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care within an behavioral health and substance use treatment setting. This role supports the delivery of safe, effective, and compliant care through client assessment, medication management, detoxification monitoring, and coordination with the interdisciplinary team. All duties are performed in accordance with physician orders, organizational policies, and applicable state and accreditation standards.

Essential functions

  • Conducts nursing assessments, including admission screenings and monitoring of detoxification and withdrawal symptoms.
  • Identifies and reports changes in client conditions.
  • Documents care accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Administers medication in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Maintains accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs)
  • Monitors for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
  • Completes clinical documentation that is accurate, timely, and compliant with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in audits and follows documentation requirements.
  • Follows infection control protocols and maintains a safe clinical environment.
  • Communicate with physicians, nursing leadership and interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care.
  • Participates in treatment team collaboration as needed.
  • Maintains professional boundaries while supporting client engagement and education.
  • Responds to medical and behavioral health emergencies using established procedures.
  • Coordinates emergency services when appropriate.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) as well as CRM platforms, specifically Sales Force.
