American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring critical care experience, NY license in hand, and EPIC proficiency.

Details

  • 16-bed Medical ICU treating sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest/TTM, respiratory failure/shock, CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, and Impella patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2 with occasional 1:1 based on acuity
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required
  • EPIC charting system used

Requirements

  • Active NY RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of MICU experience required
  • Current

certifications

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Skilled in arterial line and central line care/management
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, and neuromuscular blockade
  • Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
  • Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and management of acute/chronic renal failure
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocols
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols for endocrine/metabolic management
  • Massive transfusion protocol experience preferred
  • Nurse-driven ECMO protocol experience preferred
  • Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz and CVP monitoring experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive critical care to medically complex ICU patients including those on mechanical circulatory or renal support devices
  • Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility for eligibility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
  • Previous employees must have a 6-month system-wide separation before returning
  • Allowed up to 3 call-off shifts per 13-week assignment; being placed on-call in lieu of being called off counts as a called-off shift
