Position Summary Join a dynamic and highly collaborative cardiothoracic surgical team at Mount Sinai South Nassau. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Physician Assistant with at least one year of surgical experience to contribute to cutting-edge cardiac care alongside interdisciplinary leaders in medicine, nursing, and perioperative services. We are seeking a proactive, growth-oriented PA who is a strong self-learner, an effective communicator, and a true team player.

The Physician Assistant is responsible for patient care with supervising physician, and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing. Performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics, and performance of corrective, preventive and therapeutic measures in the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System, and the department of hire.

Qualifications Education Required

  • Must complete in-house orientation program
  • Graduation from Accredited Physician Assistant Program, Masters preferred

Experience And Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Speaks, reads and writes English
  • Basic Microsoft Office Use
  • Previous Epic software use preferred

License/Certifications

  • Current NYS Physician Assistant Licensure/Registration.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the NYS Board of Medicine
  • Current unrestricted DEA certificate for mid-level providers. (Full

schedule

2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5)

  • NYS Mandated Infection Control Course Certificate (renewable every four years)
  • Current BLS and ACLS.

Working Conditions

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn
  • Moderate Physical Activity required
  • Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and demonstrate dexterity for short or extended periods of time
