Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate. Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options.) Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content.
Integrates education during the delivery of patient care. Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care to determine immediate priorities and to offer solutions for problems. Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.
Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict.
Position Summary
The incumbent is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a patient assignment through therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and other health care team members. The incumbent, as a member of the health care team appropriately assists team members in providing holistic care to patients and their support systems with an awareness of cost containment and time management.

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required Current California RN license required One (1) year of recent hospital experience and/or previous nursing practice experience required. (If operationally able will consider training opportunities for those with less than one (1) year of acute care experience). Basic dysrhythmia class required Verbal and written communication skills and computer skill required Current ACLS and BLS certifications required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred

Mercy Medical Center Redding is a 266-bed regional medical center providing inpatient and outpatient services as well as specialized cardiovascular care, stroke care, orthopedics, neurological surgery, comprehensive cancer care, maternity care, and a robust robotic surgery program.
