How You'll Help Transform Healthcare
20 bed PCU specializes in the care of trauma surgery patients Four beds in this unit are dedicated for an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and two beds are equipped for Chronic Ventilator patients.
The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.
The RN
Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes. Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans. Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records. Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives. Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs. Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments. Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization. Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs. Supports orientation and training of new employees. Uses problem-solving skills to address patient care and operational challenges.
Provides feedback and participates in shared decision-making activities. Supports education activities within the department. Maintains confidentiality and complies with regulatory and organizational standards.
What We Require
Education
Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
Experience
None.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.

Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.
