About this role

Patient Placement Registered Nurse collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Nurses effectively interact with patient and significant others; while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. Due to the broad range of medical conditions they encounter; they must be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions.

Registered Nurses have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities; surveys; and improvement initiatives. In addition; Registered Nurses must uphold the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.

The Patient Placement Nurse is responsible for expediting admissions; discharges; and transfers. Serves as the point person for patient placement throughout the facility. Uses clinical expertise to obtain a global picture of facility capacity at all times. Acts as Transfer Coordinator for transfers from other facilities to Hendrick Medical Center. Monitors patient room assignments for admissions and transfers; keeping all information confidential. Maintains knowledge of departmental and organizational issues. Displays a professional; positive attitude when communicating with all members of the healthcare team.

Job requirements

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of Accredited school of Nursing (Diploma; AD; BSN)

Minimum Work Experience

  • 2 years of recent acute care nursing

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Registered Nurse
  • CPR-BLS (required before completion of orientation)

Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities

  • Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position.
  • Ability to collaborate with community; consumers; physicians; and other members of the health care team.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
  • Maintains professional appearance at all times.
  • Knowledge of triage process.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to input data into computer programs.
