Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) MDS Coordinator oversees completion and accuracy of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments and related documentation to support appropriate reimbursement, care planning, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and complete MDS assessments and related documentation within required timeframes.
Review medical records and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure accurate coding and case mix optimization.
Monitor PDPM and reimbursement impact and communicate findings to facility leadership.
Assist with care plan development and updates based on assessment findings.
Educate staff on documentation requirements that support accurate MDS coding.
Participate in quality improvement and survey-readiness activities related to MDS and documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned by nursing leadership or the Administrator.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited nursing program.
Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of Tennessee.
Long-term Care/skilled Nursing Experience Preferred.
PDPM and MDS experience strongly preferred.
Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and knowledge of MDS regulations.
