About this role

The School Nurse coordinates the school health program including the delivery of services to students and serves as the health resource to staff members in order to enhance health and wellness in the school community. The school nurse duties are to be performed in accordance with standards of professional and school nurse practice, Illinois State Board of Education policies and procedures and the State of Illinois Nurse Practice Act.

Organizational Relationship

The School Nurse reports directly to the Building Administration and the Administrator for Special Services.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred
  • IEP with Designation, preferred
  • Certification for vision/hearing screening, or willing to obtain
  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation program completion

Salary: $300 per day.

Substitute staff doing daily or long-term assignments do not have a contract of employment for any guaranteed period of time. Long-term substitute staff may be given an estimated timeline of the assignment; however, the beginning and end dates are subject to change due to District needs and satisfactory performance of the long-term substitute staff. Daily and long-term substitute staff are considered "at-will" employees and are not eligible to receive benefits.
