Title: RN Behavioral Health Location: Coos Bay, OR 97420, Shift: Nights Schedule: 3x12 Contract: 13 Weeks PAY RANEG: $2,200.00 - $2,218.00/Weekly Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health nursing, with experience working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities, geriatrics, and acute psychiatric needs. This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive behavioral health care in a dynamic environment, emphasizing patient-centered approaches and evidence-based practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, a commitment to quality care, and the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals across various specialties. Responsibilities • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including mental status examinations, vital signs, and behavioral observations to inform individualized care plans. • Administer medications and treatments such as psychotropic drugs, IV infusions, and injections in accordance with physician orders and safety protocols. • Monitor patients for adverse reactions or changes in condition, promptly reporting findings to the healthcare team. • Implement therapeutic interventions tailored to patients’ needs, including crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and behavioral modification strategies. • Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. • Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and physicians to coordinate discharge planning and community reintegration efforts. • Provide education to patients and families regarding mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies. • Follow strict infection control procedures and aseptic techniques during all patient interactions to ensure safety and quality standards are met. Qualifications • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with relevant state licensing boards. • Prior experience in behavioral health nursing or psychiatric settings is highly preferred. • Knowledge of mental health disorders, trauma medicine, dementia care, and substance use treatment modalities. • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation and order entry. • Strong clinical skills including patient assessment, medication administration (including injections), IV insertion, and vital signs monitoring. • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in geriatric care is advantageous. • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as CPR or crisis prevention are a plus. • Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
