Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Title: RN Behavioral Health Location: Coos Bay, OR 97420, Shift: Nights Schedule: 3x12 Contract: 13 Weeks PAY RANEG: $2,200.00 - $2,218.00/Weekly Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health nursing, with experience working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities, geriatrics, and acute psychiatric needs. Responsibilities • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including mental status examinations, vital signs, and behavioral observations to inform individualized care plans. • Administer medications and treatments such as psychotropic drugs, IV infusions, and injections in accordance with physician orders and safety protocols. • Monitor patients for adverse reactions or changes in condition, promptly reporting findings to the healthcare team. • Implement therapeutic interventions tailored to patients’ needs, including crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and behavioral modification strategies. • Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. • Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and physicians to coordinate discharge planning and community reintegration efforts. • Provide education to patients and families regarding mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies. • Follow strict infection control procedures and aseptic techniques during all patient interactions to ensure safety and quality standards are met. Qualifications • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with relevant state licensing boards. • Prior experience in behavioral health nursing or psychiatric settings is highly preferred. • Knowledge of mental health disorders, trauma medicine, dementia care, and substance use treatment modalities. • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation and order entry. • Strong clinical skills including patient assessment, medication administration (including injections), IV insertion, and vital signs monitoring. • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in geriatric care is advantageous. • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as CPR or crisis prevention are a plus. • Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
