We are seeking a qualified and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to join our team full-time in the Houston area.
Position Overview
The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of all patient care services. This role includes supervising clinical staff, leading interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings, and ensuring staff are informed and compliant with current policies and procedures.
The DON will oversee the recruitment, training, and retention of nursing and other clinical personnel while ensuring high-quality patient care delivery.

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas (required)
Minimum of 1 year of RN experience with management or supervisory experience
BSN degree or five years of equivalent nursing management experience
Hospice or home health experience preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Bi- Lingual Preferred

Ensures education and availability of applicable regulations to all the Hospice staff, including contractual providers.
Organizes and directs the Hospice’s ongoing functions.
Ensures completion, maintenance, and submission of required reports.
Ensures that the organization employs or contracts with qualified personnel.
Ensures the development of personnel qualifications and policies.
Ensures adequate staff education and evaluations.
Ensures the accuracy of public information materials and activities.
Ensures maintenance of the appropriate personnel records, administrative records, and policies and procedures of the Hospice.
Ensures that the documentation of services provided is accurate and timely.
Supervises to ensure implementation of Hospice policy and procedures
Supervises and evaluates patient satisfaction survey reports on all patients served.
Has responsibility and authority for the administrative and leadership functions of the Hospice
Administratively supervises the provision of quality care to hospice patients.
Maintains a current organizational chart to show lines of authority down to the patient level.
Implements an effective budgeting and accounting system that promotes the health and safety of the Hospice’s patients.
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year in a leadership role.
Proficiency with HospiceWorks (preferred).
Experience working with seniors, or a strong willingness to do so, with a compassionate approach to supporting families during difficult times.
Ability to audit clinical documentation, identify and correct basic charting errors, and provide education to clinicians within three days of note submission.
Thorough understanding of leading and facilitating Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings, including real-time documentation in HospiceWorks.
Ability to encourage and engage clinician participation in IDT meetings.
Capable of auditing agency processes and developing quarterly QAPI reports.
Proven ability to maintain 5-star performance measures in accordance with state and CMS standards.
Strong leadership, management, and decision-making skills.
Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management abilities.
Comprehensive knowledge of current Medicare hospice guidelines and the ability to ensure clinician compliance through education and oversight.
Willingness and ability to support families with seniors by coordinating appropriate clinical care, either directly or through community and human resource contacts.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Compassionate and kind demeanor, with the ability to lead by example.
