Nursing Assistant

Interview patients, obtains and documents in electronic health record the following: subjective and objective heath information, takes and records vital signs., Assist patients in walking, moving, and changing positions and prevents obstruction, dislodgment and unnecessary movement of drainage, suction, and parenteral fluid apparatus., Provide personal care to include bathing, shaving, feeding, rubbing backs, and making equipment and supplies available to patient such as bedpans, linen, and grooming items., Instruct patients and families on various subjects, such as the proper procedure or obtaining laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic exams, in accordance with established protocols., Make beds and perform general maintenance duties including cleaning and arranging supply carts, cleaning and sorting supplies, instruments, and equipment., Report deficiencies in supplies and equipment; cleaning utility rooms; handling linen according to infection control policies; and cleaning patient units and exam areas as needed., Clean wounds, applies bandages after suturing, assists in removal of sutures, staples, and dressings during examination and treatment.

Experience

One year of specialized experience which performing a range of nursing care support duties such as obtaining vital signs; taking specimens for laboratory; performing treatment procedures; AND entering patient information into patient record. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR

Education

Experience

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.
