Summary
The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population in the Emergency Department. He/she assures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the department’s standards of care and the Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and the organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.

Qualifications
Education
Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Licensure/Registration/
Certification
Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. BLS upon hire ACLS within 1 year of hire or transfer PALS within 2 years of hire or transfer NALS/NRP recommended and desired. TNCC recommended. CEN certification desired. Work
Experience
1 year medical/surgical nursing experience required. Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served. Must meet clinical competency standards specific to Emergency Department patients.
