Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous 1:1 labor and delivery nursing care, including support for vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, and recovery post-delivery.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal monitoring, including electronic fetal monitoring and IUPC; respond promptly to non-reassuring patterns.
  • Deliver postpartum and antepartum care, support newborn assessment, breastfeeding education, and discharge planning.
  • Manage obstetric emergencies (hemorrhage, preeclampsia/eclampsia, magnesium sulfate administration) and oversee VBAC patients; monitor epidural/analgesia as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EPIC charting system; uphold sterile technique and SVE competency; collaborate with delivering providers, CNAs, and support staff; float to postpartum as required.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Washington or a compact (multistate) license in-hand at submission.

Certifications

BCLS (BLS), ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate OR Relias Fetal Monitoring (required).

Experience

Minimum 2 years RN experience; first-time L&D travelers accepted; preferred: experience at facilities with 200+ deliveries (candidates from 100–200 deliveries will be considered).

Sterile vaginal exams (SVE) demonstrated ability is a hardstop; EPIC charting experience required.

  • Unit fit: able to work in a high-risk perinatal unit; ability to float to postpartum as needed.
  • Holidays: must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day).
  • Orientation: completion of 40 hours of orientation prior to start.
