In January 2024 the hospital opened a five-story critical care tower—about 110–116k square feet—with a larger emergency department (44 patient rooms and six ambulance bays), a 20-bed MICU floor, expanded cardiovascular and oncology space, new dining, and two shelled floors held for future beds. Beyond the tower you will also find progressive care / ICU stepdown, behavioral health, accredited orthopedics and spine services, women’s and maternity care, and surgical services that include open-heart ORs. Coworkers often describe a family-like culture and flexible scheduling, and the organization puts nurse councils and a LENS platform in front of frontline decision-making. Growth still brings real demand: some nurses want clearer communication and note staffing strain, and publicly derived staffing figures sit around 0.91 RN per bed with a CMS staffing grade of C.
