Medical Assistant / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)Position Summary
Palm Springs Surgery Center is seeking a dependable, professional, and patient-focused *Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)* to provide both front-office and clinical support in our ambulatory surgery center.
The ideal candidate is organized, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. Duties will be assigned according to the employee’s training, competency, licensure, and applicable scope of practice.

- Greet, register, and assist patients and families.
- Answer phones and communicate with patients and physician offices.
- Coordinate surgical scheduling and patient appointments.
- Prepare patient charts and verify required documentation.
- Obtain medical records, physician orders, H&Ps, clearances, laboratory results, and other required documents.
- Assist with insurance verification and authorizations as assigned.
- Enter and maintain accurate information in the EMR/EHR.
- Assist with pre-operative patient preparation and patient flow.
- Obtain and document vital signs within permitted scope.
- Review medication and allergy information and report concerns to the RN or physician.
- Assist nursing staff with pre-operative and post-operative patient care within permitted scope and competency.
- Reinforce approved pre-operative and discharge instructions as permitted.
- Maintain and stock patient-care areas and clinical supplies.
- Follow HIPAA, infection prevention, OSHA, patient safety, and facility policies.
- Immediately report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the RN or physician.
- Participate in required training, competencies, staff meetings, and emergency drills.
- Perform other administrative and clinical duties within the employee’s qualifications and scope of practice.
Qualifications
*Medical Assistant:*
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant training/certification preferred.
- Current BLS certification.
- Medical office or surgery center experience preferred.
*Licensed Vocational Nurse:*
- Current and unrestricted *California LVN license*.
- Graduate of an approved vocational nursing program.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
- Pre-op, post-op, outpatient surgery, pain management, orthopedic, or ASC experience preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Excellent patient-service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR/EHR systems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and physician offices.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

- Based on surgical schedule and facility needs.
Scope of Practice
All clinical duties must be performed within the employee’s applicable *California scope of practice, training, demonstrated competency, required supervision, and Palm Springs Surgery Center policies and procedures.*
Pay: $19.00 - $40.00 per hour
