Responsibilities

  • Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or assigned group of patients in the antepartum/antenatal and postpartum/postnatal period, following the nursing process and established standards of care.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status, administer medications and interventions as ordered, and document findings accurately.
  • Supervise and direct activities of various levels of nursing staff on the unit, ensuring safe, evidence-based care and appropriate delegation.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, neonatal staff, and other disciplines to coordinate comprehensive care plans for maternity patients and normal newborns.
  • Provide education to patients and families on postpartum and newborn care, discharge planning, and safety considerations.
  • Maintain high standards of infection control, patient safety, and quality of care through accurate charting and compliance with policies.

  • Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and judgment to support interdisciplinary care.

  • Availability to work night shift and 12-hour blocks; flexibility to respond to patient needs across the assignment.
  • Commitment to following established standards of care, documentation practices, and unit policies.
