Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) / Developmental Disabilities Professional (DDP)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Developmental Disabilities (DDP) to join our team. This dual-role position involves providing comprehensive nursing care, overseeing healthcare services, conducting audits, performing initial assessments, and conducting supervisory visits to ensure high-quality care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

**1. Training and
Education
**
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff on best practices, health protocols, and patient care specific to developmental disabilities.
- Ensure all staff are educated on emergency procedures, medication administration, and individualized care plans.
- Provide ongoing education to patients and their families about health management, safety, and wellness.
**2. RN Oversight:**
- Oversee the delivery of healthcare services within the facility or assigned area.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and standards of care.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care provided by the healthcare team.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
**3. DDP
Duties
**
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with developmental disabilities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of patients with developmental disabilities.
- Ensure care plans are person-centered and promote the highest level of independence and quality of life.
**4. Auditing
Duties
**
- Conduct regular audits of patient records, care plans, and medication administration logs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address deficiencies.
- Report audit findings to management and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop and maintain a quality improvement policy/plan and review quarterly.
**5. Initial Assessments:**
- Perform comprehensive initial assessments of new patients to determine their health status, needs, and preferences.
- Document assessment findings and develop an initial care plan in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team.
- Update assessments as needed to reflect changes in the patient’s condition.
**6. Supervisory Visits:**
- Conduct regular supervisory visits to evaluate the implementation of care plans and the quality of care provided.
- Provide feedback and support to staff during visits to ensure adherence to care standards.
- Address any issues or concerns identified during visits promptly and effectively.

** Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. Advanced degree preferred.

Licensure
** Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State].
