How you'll make an impact in this role

Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues. Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promote the importance of breastfeeding. Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assist with their development. Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding. Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes.

What minimum qualifications you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Certification specializing in Lactation preferred.

Education

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

  • RN License - Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from Tennessee Board of Nursing
  • Nursing Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
  • BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification from AAP within 6 months of hire
  • Lactation Certification (preferred)
  • RN NICU Lactation Experience (preferred)
  • Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
  • Experience working with neonates
