About this role

Provides care for a specific patient population with alterations of wounds, the GI/GU systems, drains, incontinence and pressure ulcers. Serves as a resource for other health care professionals, patients, families and the community. Under the guidance of a certified wound care nurse and/or a physician, assesses the physical and educational needs of patients undergoing ostomy surgery or continent diversions, and patients with wounds, fistulas, incontinence, percutaneous tubes or pressure ulcers.

Implements and evaluates plans for care management. Assists with education of patients, families and staff on evidence-based skin and wound care practices. Participates in the Skin Care Committee and quarterly Pressure Ulcer Prevalence Studies.

May perform hyperbaric oxygen therapy related duties.

Requirements

  • RN
  • Compact RN License
  • Associate degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred)
  • Two (2) years as an RN
  • Experience in skin and wound care preferred
  • Current RN compact/multistate license recognized by NCSBN Compact State or licensed to practice as RN in working state
