Overview
We are seeking compassionate and skilled Peri-Anesthesia Nurses to join our dynamic team providing exceptional care for ambulatory and inpatients in the Pre-Intra-Post Procedure phases for both pediatric and adult patients. This position is specifically based in Non-OR locations, including University Hospital Radiology and Brachytherapy at the Cancer Center, where patients undergo various procedures, treatments, and imaging that require anesthesia. Responsibilities
Pre-Procedure Care
Assess patients before anesthesia for procedures, treatments, and imaging. Collect relevant patient history, review medications, allergies, and vital signs. Educate patients and families regarding anesthesia procedures, expectations, and recovery. Ensure appropriate preparation for anesthesia administration, including pre-anesthetic medications when applicable.
Intra-Procedure Care
Work collaboratively with anesthesiologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and comfort.
Post-Procedure Care
Monitor and assess patients during recovery from anesthesia, ensuring safe and effective transition to post-procedure recovery. Manage pain and complications post-procedure, providing necessary interventions. Provide discharge instructions and ensure patients and families understand the aftercare process.
Patient Population
Pediatric patients (approximately 75%) and adult patients undergoing anesthesia for procedures, treatments, and imaging. Provide age-appropriate care tailored to the specific needs of pediatric and adult populations.
Schedule
Full-time position with service hours from Monday to Friday, 0700-1900. No call, weekend, or holiday requirements, offering a work-life balance. Minimum requirements
Education
Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
Experience
1 year of relevant experience.
Licensure
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
