Responsibilities
- Provide direct perioperative nursing care in the operating room, including patient positioning, anesthesia support, and intraoperative monitoring.
- Maintain sterile technique, proper instrument counts, and adherence to universal precautions to promote patient safety.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and circulating staff to ensure efficient case flow and optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor patient status throughout the procedure, respond to intraoperative events, and communicate changes to the team.
- Document intraoperative care accurately in the medical record and ensure proper hand-off to PACU/nursing staff.
- Assist with equipment setup, instrument preparation, and turnover between cases to support OR efficiency.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California) required.
- AHA BLS Certification required.
- Minimum 3 years of operating room experience; must have recently worked in specialty.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment; comfortable with 3x12-hour day shifts.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, instrument handling, and patient safety.
- Eligibility for travel RN assignment and ability to meet credentialing requirements for the listed location.
