About this role

The Education Coordinator supports the daily operations of the HAMC Education Department. This role manages scheduling of classes and events, oversees routine learning management system tasks, assists employees with education-related questions, and maintains accurate education records. The Education Coordinator ensures smooth communication, organizes department workflows, and supports internal and external education activities for the hospital and community.

Working conditions

General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms. May be required to change from one task to another or different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. May be scheduled as needed including overtime.

Physical requirments & demands

Have near normal hearing: Hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice. Have near normal vision: Clarity of vision (both near and far), ability to distinguish colors. Have good manual dexterity. Have good eye-hand foot coordination. Ability to perform repetitive tasks/motion. Continuously within shift (67-100%): Standing, Walking. Frequently within shift (34-66%): Bending/Stooping, Pushing/Pulling, Lift/carry up to 20lbs, Lift/carry 20 lbs. with assistance. Occasionally within shift (1-33%): Sitting, Climbing, Twist at waist, Lift/Carry 50 lbs. with assistance, Reaching above shoulder.

Job specific competencies

Maintains rosters, education materials, checklists, data, competencies, certificates, and transcripts. Maintain Learning Management System users, requests, reports, and documents. Assist in distribution and maintenance of Contract Staff education.

Create and distribute flyers and other communications for the department. Manage the schedule and usage of the Education Center and coordinate any necessary maintenance. Assist in scheduling classes, meetings, in-services, and community events.

Communicate with staff and leadership about staff education and competencies. Collaborate with HR team on new hires and general orientation needs. Assist in the verification of certificates in HRIS.

Maintain orderly, systemic education and competency files to meet regulatory standards. Maintain and orders department supplies and equipment as needed. Answer telephone and relay messages for the department.

Promptly respond to requests for assistance and information. Work as an education team member to improve the department’s goals, duties, and practices by suggestions, new ideas or creative changes. Assist the manager with education projects.

Support education and training efforts. Maintain employee and organizational confidentiality. Use accurate, clear and concise oral and written communication.

Maintain thorough documentation of education activities. Communicate across the organization about upcoming education surveys, events, educational webinars, and professional development opportunities. Display positive characteristics and conduct self in professional manner.

All other duties assigned by Education Manager.
