Responsibilities Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan Community: Regency at Bluffs Park Category: Nursing Facility: Regency at Bluffs Park This position is a dual role that covers Infection Prevention and Staff Development The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the facility’s infection prevention and control program (IPC). This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting resident safety, quality of care, and staff education. The Infection Preventionist monitors, investigates, and assists with controlling the spread of infections and communicable diseases within the facility. Join us with an attractive benefits offering: • Competitive pay • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • 401K with matching funds • Life Insurance • Employee discounts • Tuition Reimbursement • Student Loan Reimbursement Responsibilities: • Implement and maintain the facility’s infection prevention and control program consistent with facility policies, state and federal requirements, and CDC guidelines. • Conducts surveillance for healthcare-associated infections, tracking trends, and analyzing data for QAPI reporting. • Investigate outbreaks or clusters of infections and initiate appropriate control measures for residents and staff. • Ensure timely reporting of communicable diseases to public health authorities per federal and state regulatory requirements. • Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, environmental services, dietary and therapy to ensure infection prevention practices are consistently followed. • Monitor proper hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, cleaning/disinfection, and isolation practices through regular audits and rounds. • Deliver ongoing infection control education and competency training for all staff. • Assist with ongoing education for residents, visitors, and vendors • Oversee employee health screening, immunization programs and exposure control (including bloodborne pathogens and tuberculosis testing) • Serves as chair or co-chair of the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Committee. • Oversees facility’s Antibiotic Stewardship program, communicating and collaborating with medical providers. • Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives. • Maintain current knowledge of best practices, CDC/CMS guidance, and state regulations related to infection control. • Collaborate in emergency preparedness planning related to infectious disease outbreaks (e.g., influenza, COVID-19). Education and/or Experience: • At least two years’ experience working in infection control preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse with required state licensure. • Certification in infection prevention • Current CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
