About This Position

CVCNM operates a network of highly specialized outpatient endovascular care facilities. All CVCNM employees are members of the same team, regardless of their primary work location. Under supervision of a Board-Certified Physician, the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.

The PA/NP will perform patient histories and physical examinations. Initiates, documents and communicates the plan of care. Orders and interprets for laboratory work and diagnostic tests.

Interprets laboratory and test results. Upon discharge, notes discharge summaries, prescriptions and any referrals in patient’s electronic medical record. PA/NP educates patients, family, and caregivers on pre-op and provides post-operative instructions.

Adheres to all policies related to PHI and HIPAA privacy practices.

*Responsibilities*

  • Assists physician with emergency treatments and more complex procedures
  • Completes hospital inpatient rounding, admissions, consults, and discharging of cardiovascular patients
  • Educate patients and family members
  • Instruct patients in collection of samples and inform them of diagnostic tests/procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership and supervisory staff
  • Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and ACV policies
  • Assists physician with emergency treatments and more complex procedures
  • Responsible for assisting in giving quality patient care to ACV patients and in other areas as needed
  • Responsible for outpatient evaluation and treatment of cardiac and vascular patients
  • Screen patients for appropriate clinical information, accurately document vitals, condition, medications, and other relevant medical information using EMR system

*Skills*

  • Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire
  • Cardiovascular and/or peripheral vascular disease experience preferred
  • Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body OR certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certifying of Physician Assistants.
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
  • Detail oriented, thorough and exact, strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner: Current license by the State of Michigan
  • Three to five years of vascular experience

  • Frequent need to wear lead apron/radiation protection equipment
  • Frequent need to observe universal precautions/sterile operating room procedures
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling
  • Occasionally exposed to loud noise
