Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vascular Access Registered Nurse (RN) to join our mobile healthcare team. The mobile Vascular Access RN will specialize in the assessment, placement, and management of vascular access devices for patients requiring intravenous (IV) therapy in various locations within Texas. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of vascular access techniques, patient care protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while delivering high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Vascular Access Procedures:

Perform insertion, maintenance, and management of vascular access devices (e.g., ultrasound guided peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and midlines) following evidence-based practice protocols.

  • Patient Assessment:

Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the most appropriate vascular access device based on individual needs and medical conditions.

Education

Provide patients and families with information regarding vascular access procedures, device care, and maintenance, ensuring patient understanding and comfort.

  • Collaboration:

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., physicians, other nurses, and specialists) to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal vascular access management.

  • Documentation:

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of vascular access procedures.

  • Troubleshooting and Complications Management:

Identify and address potential complications such as infection, thrombosis, and occlusions. Provide care and interventions as necessary.

Qualifications

Licensure

Current, active RN license in Texas.

Experience

Minimum of 1.5-2 years of current experience as vascular access Registered Nurse is required.

Skills

  • Proficiency in inserting vascular access devices and procedures (e.g., PICC, midlines, peripheral IVs, etc.).
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage and troubleshoot complications associated with vascular access devices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and support patients and families.
  • Physical Demands:

Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual dexterity tasks for extended periods. Ability to lift and position patients as necessary.

  • Travel Requirement:

This is a mobile healthcare position. Clinicians travel to skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and other healthcare locations throughout their assigned region to provide vascular access services. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel are required.

  • Additional Details:
  • Travel within a 100-mile radius of your home base may be required depending on patient needs and staffing demands. While not every shift will require extensive travel, flexibility is essential to ensure timely patient care and regional coverage.
