American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU Float RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and a CO or compact RN license.
Details
- unit staffing MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU and other combination ICUs across multiple facilities
- Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1-2 depending on acuity, with flexing up to 1:3 and 1:1 for high acuity patients on CRRT, IABP, or Impella
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
- 6-9 weekend shifts required within a 6 week schedule
- May be required to participate in Holiday rotation
- Rare call/standby requirement for low census situations
- Must float within Zone 3 to OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, and St. Anthony North Hospital
- May also be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
- Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance, either assigned to a single facility for the week or via Just-In-Time (JIT) assignment 1-2 hours before shift start
- EPIC EMR used
- No home base facility for this float pool position
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- First-time travelers must have 3+ years of ICU experience and Epic experience
- Required
certifications
BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
- Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin
- Must be able to assist in troubleshooting and managing respiratory needs alongside respiratory therapy
- Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Care for a combination ICU patient population including general critical care diagnoses
- Designated charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
- Designated respiratory therapist for the ICU, though not on the unit 24/7
- No nurse aides on the unit except for sitter needs
- 1-2 days of unit/department orientation with a preceptor
- Any scrub color permitted per dress code
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the Denver city center, which serves as the reference point for Zone 3 float requirements
- Responsible for securing housing that allows for floating throughout the full Zone 3 coverage area regardless of chosen residence
- Prior travel experience preferred
- All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
