American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool position in the Denver, CO area requiring 2 years of MS-Tele experience and a compact or Colorado RN license.

Details

• Acute care float pool position covering multiple hospitals within the Denver Zone 3 region

• Floats among MS-Tele, PCU/Stepdown, and low-acuity ICU holds based on skillset

• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine diagnoses

• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:5-6 based on acuity

• Uses Epic EMR

• 12-hour day shifts on a 7-7 schedule set 6 weeks in advance

• Requires 6-9 weekend shifts within each 6-week schedule

• May be required to participate in holiday rotation

• Rare call/standby requirement, typically for low census situations

• Titration of Heparin drips required

• Facility assignments may be given for the week or as Just-In-Time (JIT) notice 1-2 hours before shift start

• Designated charge nurse on each unit who does not typically take a patient assignment

• Nurse aides and respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPap) available on units

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA)

• Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience required

• Prior neuro experience preferred

• Must be willing and able to float across all facilities within the assigned zone

• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across multiple specialty units within the float pool, adapting to varying acuity levels and patient populations

• Receive 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor

• Any scrub color permitted

• Must reside at least 60 miles from the Denver city center, which serves as the float zone hub, as this is a no-home-base float position

• Responsible for securing housing that supports floating throughout the entire zone regardless of personal residence location

• Must be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely

• First float assignment will be communicated on or before the Monday start date

• All time-off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment

• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
