The Johns Hopkins Hospital has been at the forefront of discovery, innovation, and medical advances for over 125 years. Our reputation for excellence has earned us a spot on U. S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list for over two decades. We believe that the commitment from our entire professional staff is one of the primary reasons we can continually set the standard of excellence in patient care, both in our community and around the world. Renowned for our specialty services and innovative clinical advances, we strive to make Johns Hopkins the premier place to work.

The Medical Progressive Care Unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 21-bed high acuity step-down unit, caring for critically ill adult medical patients. Patient population includes those with complex organ disease, requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, and continuous monitoring. Common medical diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleed, liver failure, and DKA. This is a highly skilled floor, from which new staff will gain instrumental experience. Nurse to patient ratios are 2:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity. There is opportunity for growth on the MPCU, regardless of where you are in your career!
