Travel RN – Medical Surgical | Shiprock, NM IHS Facility & Assignment Location: Shiprock, NM 87420 (Northern Navajo Medical Center – Indian Health Service, Navajo/Shiprock Service Unit) Unit: Medical Surgical (inpatient – acute/chronic disease, surgical, palliative, isolation precautions) Shift: 12-hr Days (0700–1930) or 12-hr Nights (1900–0730), rotating per unit need — includes weekends/holidays Contract Length: 26 weeks (extension likely — client has up to 4 additional 6-month renewal options, 30 months total potential) Start Date: ASAP / per award H ours: 36 one week, 48 hours the next Estimated Weekly Pay Package Component Amount Blended Rate (est. weekly gross) $2,446/week ($61.15/hr blended) Taxable Base Rate $30.00/hr → $1,200/week Weekly Non-Taxable Stipend – Lodging $770/week Weekly Non-Taxable Stipend – Meals & Incidentals (M&IE) $476/week Total Weekly Non-Taxable Stipend $1,246/week Overtime (over 40 hrs/wk) 1.5x taxable base = $45.00/hr One-Time Travel Reimbursement $500 (paid separately after start-date verification) Non-taxable stipend requires maintaining a qualifying tax home more than 50 miles from the assignment (IRS duplicate-expense rule). Local/commutable candidates will be offered an all-taxable hourly rate instead of the stipend package. Requirements · Active, current, unrestricted RN license from any U. S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U. S. territory — no New Mexico license or NLC compact license required. This is a federal facility (Indian Health Service), so your home-state license is accepted as-is; no additional endorsement, application, or wait time needed. · Minimum 36 months RN experience, including 2+ years in Medical-Surgical/acute inpatient care · Current BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred · Up-to-date immunizations: MMR immunity, Hep B series (or titer/declination), varicella history or titer, Tdap, current TB screening, annual flu vaccine (Oct–Mar) · Ability to pass background check and fitness-for-duty screening · Comfort working in a rural, culturally diverse setting serving American Indian/Alaska Native communities Why This Assignment Support a mission-driven role delivering direct inpatient care within the Indian Health Service system, serving a community with limited access to specialty nursing coverage. Facility-provided PPE, ID badge, and clinic equipment; contractor provides uniforms and personal instruments. Stipend reflects the FY2026 GSA standard CONUS per diem rate for the duty location ($110/night lodging x 7 = $770/week; $68/day M&IE x 7 = $476/week).
