As a Pre - Operating Room Registered Nurse , you'll play a vital role in bringing that mission to life. Working closely with our PACU Charge Nurse in daily clinical operations, you'll help planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality, individualized patient care in the pre-operative period of the patient's surgical experience.

In this role, you will participate in direct patient care including maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment. You'll perform pre/post-operative teaching to patients and/ or their significant other along with managing patient complications, emergencies, preoperatively, as well as postoperatively. It's crucial that you maintain a professional demeanor for the patient and staff members, effectively communicate and set a positive patient experience for them and their families.

Additionally, you'll be expected to utilize appropriate services when needed to communicate with all staff members and patients with speech and hearing disorders to ensure the highest standards of patient experience and patient safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care, including patient assessment, education, and care plan implementation.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-op interviews, vital signs monitoring, IV initiation, and lab review.
  • Administer medications safely and monitor patient response in accordance with physician orders.
  • Monitor recovery from anesthesia, manage airway, and identify and address post-operative complications.
  • Perform wound care and support optimal healing outcomes.
  • Assess, manage, and document patient pain, including evaluation of treatment effectiveness.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies and changes in patient condition, escalating care as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient care and recovery.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards, including abuse reporting and latex precautions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with nursing standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Working knowledge and experience in PACU from hospital or ambulatory surgery center including direct patient care
  • Ability to adhere to work schedule 4x
  • 10 hour shifts a week and manage time appropriately; utilize resources in a timely, organized, and cost-effective manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical record policy and procedure in management of patient information.
  • Participates in medical records TQM.
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $60/hour - $62/ hour for RNs ; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, licensure, skills, and experience.
