• Serve as the districts Medication Program Manager, providing oversight of medication administration practices, developing and maintaining required policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Massachusetts regulations, and coordinating required training and competency requirements for school personnel.

• Assists with the preparation, dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of all school health services programs and associated goals and objectives.

• Advises the superintendent and student services regarding the needs of the schools with respect to health services.

• Oversees the preparation, maintenance and submission of all records and reports pertaining to school health services as may be required from time to time by school committee and superintendent, as well as federal, state and local agencies.

• Conducts meetings to keep school nurses informed of policy changes, new programs and related matters when appropriate.

• Serve as the primary nursing liaison to the district's school physician/medical consultant. Massachusetts specifically envisions the physician and Nurse Leader working together to plan, implement, review, and revise the health-services program

• Assists in the design of programs to inform parents of health related issues.

• Stays abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals, and other publications, discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field, and through continuing education.

• Extends consultative services to faculty and staff in matters relating to health services when appropriate.

• Performs additional duties as assigned by student service directors and/or Superintendent

Education and

Experience

• Registered Nurse.

• Demonstrated capacity for leadership.

• Evidence of professional growth in the field of health services.

• DESE School Nurse Certification
