Nurse Manager

• Coordinate patient care activities across multiple units, including medical-surgical, critical care, behavioral health, geriatrics, and specialized units like ICU, PICU, or dialysis.

• Oversee clinical documentation accuracy using EMR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; ensure compliance with ICD-9, ICD-10 coding standards and medical records management.

• Manage staffing schedules, conduct performance evaluations, and facilitate ongoing training to maintain a high-performing team skilled in areas like IV infusion, catheterization, sterile processing, and infection control.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and ensuring quality care delivery aligned with NCQA standards.

• Monitor patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations; ensure timely interventions for acute pain management or complex cases such as ventilator or gastric lavage needs.

• Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, infection prevention, and compliance with hospital medicine protocols in various specialties including trauma centers or emergency medicine units.

Skills

• Extensive experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth; proficient in medical documentation and ICD coding practices.

• Proven leadership skills in managing nursing teams within acute care environments like ICU, Level I/II trauma centers or long-term care facilities.

• Strong clinical knowledge in critical care procedures including airway management, ventilator support, catheter care, tube feeding, and phlebotomy.

• In-depth understanding of healthcare regulations including HIPAA privacy rules and state-specific long-term care regulations.

• Skilled in patient assessment techniques involving vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluation.

• Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams; manage complex cases involving behavioral health or dementia care with compassion and professionalism.

• Competence in managing medical documentation related to DRG (Diagnosis Related Groups), CPT coding for procedures like spinal tap or cardiac catheterization; familiar with utilization management processes.
