About this role

The Staff Development Coordinator/MDS Assistant is responsible for coordinating and supporting quality resident care, staff development, regulatory compliance, MDS completion, care planning, clinical documentation, and nursing education at Westminster Village. This position serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff, residents, families, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

The Staff Development Coordinator/MDS Assistant is responsible for the accurate, timely, and complete coordination of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) process, resident assessments, care plans, medical records, restorative nursing services, staff orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education and training programs.

This position provides direct resident care as necessary, participates in clinical and quality assurance activities, assists with regulatory compliance, and participates in the nursing on-call rotation. The position is expected to promote quality resident outcomes, resident safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the community.

Qualifications

RN and/or LPN currently licensed by State of Indiana. Current CPR certification. In-depth experience and knowledge working with MDS computer software. Experience with the MDS transmittal process and understanding of regulations impacting the MDS. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to effectively communicate with team members, residents and families etc.

Physical requirements/working conditions

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day; must be able to lift , transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally. May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses. Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
